What is a torque limiter?
A torque limiter is a mechanical device that disconnects or slips when the transmitted torque exceeds a set value, protecting the drive train from overload, jamming and shock. Friction types slip and continue to transmit the set torque; detent and disengaging types separate the drive and may signal a switch. The release torque, reset method and response must suit the machine.
