What is a safety coupling?
A safety coupling combines shaft connection with overload protection: when the set torque is exceeded it slips, disengages or separates the drive, then re-engages automatically, at a defined position or manually depending on the design. Selection covers set torque, re-engagement behaviour, residual torque, misalignment capacity, bore and the need for a trip signal.
