How we determine and implement the correct solution

Engineering is what separates a power transmission solution from a catalogue purchase. It is part of every MECHATRIC inquiry.

Engineering Services

What our engineering covers

Application Engineering

Understanding the driven equipment, duty cycle, environment and failure history before selecting a product.

Product Selection

Selection by torque, speed, service factor, shaft sizes and standards, not just by catalogue size.

Coupling Selection

Flexible, gear, grid, disc and fluid couplings matched to the application, including API 610 / 671 duties.

Belt Drive Engineering

Belt profile, pulley sizes, center distance and tensioning for V-belt and synchronous drives.

Gearbox & Motor Selection

Ratio, thermal capacity, mounting and motor efficiency class for the duty.

Technical Equivalency

Cross reference, dimensional and performance comparison between brands and series.

Reverse Engineering

Replacement components developed from an existing product, sample, drawing or measurements.

Failure Analysis & Troubleshooting

Root causes such as misalignment, overload, vibration or wrong selection, and how to prevent them.

Retrofit & Replacement Engineering

Upgrading or replacing drivetrain components with minimal changes to the installation.

Example: Coupling Selection Inputs

What we need to select a coupling

  • Power (kW) and speed (rpm), or torque (Nm)
  • Service factor for the driver and driven equipment
  • Shaft diameters and keyways on both sides
  • Expected misalignment (angular, parallel, axial)
  • Operating environment and temperature
  • Existing coupling brand and model, if any
  • Required standard (for example API 610 / 671)
