View →What is an industrial gearbox?
An industrial gearbox (gear unit or speed reducer) transmits power from a motor to a driven machine while reducing speed and increasing torque. Main types are helical (parallel shaft), bevel-helical (right angle), planetary and worm gearboxes. A gearmotor combines the gear unit and the electric motor in one compact drive.
Selection is based on the required output torque and speed, the service factor of the driven machine, thermal capacity, mounting position, shaft arrangement and the loads on input and output shafts.
