Keyless Grip Bushings (DODGE GRIP-TIGHT)

Keyless gripping bushings with 360-degree concentric shaft contact - no keyway, less vibration, for fan hubs, sheaves, sprockets and couplings.

Keyless Grip Bushings (GRIP-TIGHT)

Keyless gripping bushings with 360-degree concentric contact on the shaft: a secure fit without keyways, reduced vibration and no fretting corrosion - for fan hubs, sheaves, sprockets and couplings. Reference: DODGE GRIP-TIGHT, PT6 catalogue.

DODGE GRIP-TIGHT keyless gripping bushing

What is a keyless grip bushing?

A keyless grip bushing (DODGE GRIP-TIGHT) clamps the hub to a plain shaft through full 360-degree concentric contact, tightened with a locknut a defined rotation from zero clearance. Because no keyway is needed, the shaft is not weakened, the assembly runs better balanced with less vibration, and fretting corrosion at the key is avoided. The same bushing concept is used in bearings, fan hubs and sheaves.

Features and Benefits

  • Concentric contact on the shaft for better grip.
  • Less vibration; superior balanced system.
  • No keyways required; no fretting corrosion.
  • Can be used with commercial shafting.
  • Reduction in material cost; easy, reliable mounting.
  • Same bushing concept used in bearings, fan hubs and sheaves.

Typical applications: fan hubs, sheaves and sprockets, couplings.

Selection & Replacement Checks

  • Shaft size and condition (commercial shafting, surface, tolerance).
  • Hub / housing bore to the recommended F dimension and tolerance.
  • Transmitted torque, speed, vibration and balance requirements.
  • Axial space for the bushing and locknut; access for tightening.
  • Keyless grip bushings are design-specific: confirm torque capacity and hub geometry with current manufacturer data before replacing a keyed design.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a keyless grip bushing need a keyway?

No. It grips the plain shaft with 360-degree contact; this avoids shaft weakening and fretting at the key.

How is it tightened?

The locknut is turned a defined rotation from zero clearance (2/3 turn or 1 turn depending on size, per catalogue).

Is it the same as a locking assembly?

Both are keyless, but a keyless grip bushing is a compact bushing system for fans, sheaves and sprockets; locking assemblies are higher-capacity tapered-ring devices selected by torque and hub stress.
